1. Unable to access the Internet. The Virus Alert page is shown instead. |
|
Solution: This problem is often found with users who use Internet Explorer, Opera and Google Chrome. This problem occurs because the IP address of the computer is banned. This can be because the machine is infected with virus or sends too much traffic to the network. To solve the problem, the user must scan the host machine using an antivirus software and antispyware software. MUCC provides antivirus and antispyware software to Mahidol community. . After the virus and spywares are removed, restart the machine. The virus scanning system will detect the machine again. If the machine is found safe to be on the network, the virus scanning system will remove the ban, and the user can continue using the machine normally. If no virus and spyware is found, and the problem still persists. Please contact MUCC consultant to remove the ban. |

2. Unable to login to use the Internet |
|
Solution: This problem can be caused by (1) incorrect password and (2) late payment for Internet account. In the case that the user forgot the Internet account password, the user can request for a new password by going to the MUCC building at the Phayathai campus or the first floor computer laboratory at the Salaya campus. In the case of late payment, the user must wait for 2 weeks after the payment has been received. |

3. Cannot change Internet account password because the menu “change password” is not found in Mahidol Webmail |

Solution: Student-type Internet accounts cannot change password by using webmail. Students can only change password at the student Unix host only. See
for more information. If problem still persists, please contact MUCC consultant. |

4. Unable to receive new e-mail |
|
Solution: This problem may happen because the user’s disk quota is full. The user can login to the webmail system and click the “Check Quota” button to check if the user’s disk quota is full. If the disk is full, the user must delete some old e-mails and then click “Expunge” to permanently remove the e-mails. If problem still persists, please contact MUCC consultant. |

5. Cursor is not at the right character position when typing Thai in Mahidol webmail system |

Solution:
1. Open Internet explorer
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Accessibility
3. Select “Ignore font styles specified on webpages”
4. Click OK.
5. If problem still persists, please contact MUCC consultant.

6. Can I retrieve e-mails that I deleted and expunged? |
|
Answer: the e-mails that are deleted and expunged cannot be restored by the user. MUCC may store e-mails for security purpose. The user can write to the director of MUCC to request for retrieving a specific e-mail message. |

7. What to do when I received an e-mail claiming to be from Mahidol University and asking for my account and personal information? |
|
Answer: Mahidol University and Mahidol University Computing Center do not ask user’s account or sensitive personal information via e-mail. Those e-mail messages are considered spam. Please report that message to MUCC so that MUCC can remove the e-mail with similar content out of the system. Please also aware that MUCC will only communicate with Mahidol community via MUCC consultant account. |

8. I cannot use the Internet after connecting to MU-WiFi. |

Solution:
1. First check to see if your
host computer is configured to a fixed IP address.
2. Right mouse click at the
wireless icon in the taskbar, and select properties
3. Select Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) and select Properties
4. The options “Obtain an IP
Address Automatically” and “Optain DNS Server Address
Automatically” must be checked
5. Click ok and wait for MU-WiFi
to reassign a new IP address to the machine.

9. Cannot use the Internet after a power outage |
|
Solution: This normally happens because the DHCP server is down. Please wait until the power is restored and request a new IP address by
1. Go to the start menu > run > type “cmd” and hit “OK” button. Command Prompt will appear.
2. Type “ipconfig /release” and hit enter
3. Type “ipconfig /renew” and hit enter
