Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University together with Ministry of Public health and AFRIMS co-chaired by Assoc. Prof. Pratap Singhasivanon, Prof. Dr. Punnee Pitisuttithum, Dr. Supachai Rerks – Ngram and Dr. Joseph Chiu, had successfully organized 3rd Annual meeting for AIDS vaccine for Asia network a 2 day programme on June 29 – 30th 2010 at Holiday Inn Pattaya which was a follow up meeting of Beijing in 2009.
This meeting was convened to bring together all stakeholders, scientists, experts, Government officials, policy makers, institutions from Asian countries and other collaborating international organization for discussion on regional role and various activities to be undertaken to accelerate the development of region specific HIV Vaccine, was presided by Prof. Napatawn Banchuin, Vice president of Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Pratap Singhasivanon Dean Faculty of Tropical Medicine and Dr. Manit Thiratantikanon, Director General of Disease Control Department, Thailand stating the opening remarks.
Over 60 participants from different countries such as Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Phillipines, Switzerland, Vietnam, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, USA, Thailand and representatives from various international organization such as WHO/UNAIDS, GHVE, IAVI, NIH and MHRP attended the meeting. This 2 day programme was structured into workshops on topics in various areas such as Clinical/Regulatory, Community/Ethical issues, Laboratory research and vaccine development including constructs available in the region, Non Human primate research, Young investigators and public - private partnership discussing on the aspects of current activities in the field, Gap/ challenges in the vaccine research in the region and proposing set of activities for AVAN to undertake as short and long term plans. This meeting was possible with the supports from different organizations such as NIH, WHO/UNAIDS, GHVE, IAVI, and MHRP.

Dr. Yamazaki gave a special lecture entitiled “RNAi silencing and pathway mining of camptothecin biosynthesis in Ophiorrhiza pumila” on 4th May 2010 at Room 409 from 13.30 -15.00. In addition, Dr. Yamazaki also served as a thesis examination committee for Ms. Sirintara Korsangrueng, a Doctoral student from the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany. Assoc. During 19-21 April 2010, Dr.Singhanat Nomnian, Head of Division of Foreign Languages from Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus, attended an international seminar in Singapore for presenting the research article on “Preparing Thai Postgraduate Students’ Oral Communications in Multilingual Organizations through EIL Pedagogy”, that Inaugural APEC-SEAMEO RELC international seminar organized this event with the theme of “Language Education: An Essential for a Global Economy”.
This article was a part of PHD thesis study of Dr.Singhanat, while studying at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. Nowadays, this paper is accepted as an international work and also published as the book named “Positioning in Multilingual Classrooms: A Case Study of Thai Students in a British University” by VDM Verlag Dr.Müller Publishing, Germany.

the 41st Asia Pacific Academic
Consortium for Public Health (APACPH
), in Taipei on 3-6 December 2009,
the representatives from the Faculty
of Public Health, Mahidol Univerisity,
led by Assoc. Prof. Phitaya Charupoonphol,
Dean, Faculty of Public Health,
including Deputy Deans, an Assistant
Dean and supporting staffs, visited
3 universities in Taiwan, the
Republic of China (ROC); National
Taiwan University, China Medical
University, and Taipei Medical
University.
The
visiting program established stronger
links with Taiwanese colleagues
through the facilitative sharing
of administrative and human resources.
The objectives of the visit were
to initially meet senior Taiwanese
health staff and to see at first
hand, both the Public Health facilities
and the facilities of related
fields. Secondly, opportunities
for joint research collaboration
were discussed, and thirdly, ongoing
students exchange programs were
proposed, including a reciprocation
of students exchange program already
established with both China Medical
University and National Taiwan
University.

The ASEAN Institute for Health Development (AIHD) organized the "1st Thai MPHM Alumni Reunion" which was held at Boonsiri Hall on the 19th February, 2010. The objectives of which were to develop the academic alumni network, build the relationship between the alumni and the AIHD, follow up the progression of the alumni's work in their respective field, and to advocate support for continuing education under the MPHM programme. of Mass Destruction (WMD) on 19

Building. Although Thailand is
not currently deemed a high profile
target for WMD, preparation and
readiness to counterbalance such
threat is important for our national
security. The objective of this
conference is therefore to keep
related officials both military
and civil sectors informed about
WMD and how to deal with it. The
conference also serves as a platform
for Thai officials to network
and collaborate among themselves
for the benefit of the country.
This conference enjoyed a large
number of participants including
military officers, policeman,
doctors, pharmacists and other
related personnel. In addition,
over 20 of various types of media
and news reporters at a national
level participated and reported

of understanding which catalysed
