MUCC is Mahidol University's central information
technology organization. Its mission is to
provide technology services to the University
community. MUCC services include : |
Computer Services |

Mahidol University
sees the importance of information service.
Thus, both internet and intranet computer
network are set up. Computer service centers
are available for the students in each
campus. For Salaya campus, approximately 240
computers are provided to the students who
do not own personal computer. The computer
service center is located on the 1st floor
of the Office of the President. The access
hour is from Monday-Friday between
8.00-18.00. Computer service centers are
also available at various faculties and
other campuses. The students may type their
work and access the intranet and internet to
search for information. In addition, the
university provides supporting database to
assist the students such as online
registration, invoice and payment, online
grading, and many other services, all of
which are done through network system.
Besides LAN,
access to the internet can be done
through access point that provides
wireless network. The staff and students
who has computer notebook can access
internet around the campus such as in
the building, cafeteria, and dormitory.
In addition, the
university hosts IPTV program to
broadcast meeting, seminar, or other
events through network. This service
allows the staff and students to enjoy
and learn about current events in the
university.
Students can get
computer services at many places
distributed throughout the university as
follows:
Computer laboratory at MUCC, Payathai
campus;
Computer laboratory at Office of the
President, Salaya campus;
Computer rooms at their departments /
faculties / institutes and the Library
Center;
At every dormitory’s room in Salaya
campus, in this case students must
connect their own computer to the
outlet.
Furthermore,
Mahidol University Campus Network
(MUC-Net) was constructed and regularly
maintained by MUCC with the main
objective of supporting the vastly use
of Internet and Intranet.
Consequently, ATM Switches were
installed at every campus and connected
to optical fiber backbone running at the
speed of 159 Mbps to every department
and faculty. Presently, there are
180 local area networks to support all
kinds of IT use in Mahidol University. |

MUCC realizes of the
distinguished mission of being the
University’s data warehouse; thus, we have
prepared all kinds of database to support
the University’s administrative tasks. For
instance, student database, staff database,
budgeting database, supply database, and
etc. The consequence of our service brings a
lot of advantage to the administrators
especially in aspects of their speed,
accuracy, completeness, and up-to-date. In
addition, our information service includes
MUCC news, which aims to distribute IT news
and training courses to interested users.
Furthermore,
Mahidol University Intranet has been
developed intending to distribute all
information and activities within
Mahidol University to staff and

Internet Services |

MUCC provides Internet
and related services: Internet account,
Internet training courses, and Internet
consultation by the experts, for students,
faculty, and staff of Mahidol University.
For Internet members, if you have any
Internet usage problems or inquiries please
contact MUCC or call 0-2247-0333 during
09.00 a.m. – 07.00 p.m. on weekdays and
10.00 a.m. – 04.00 p.m. on weekend; however,

is available too. Besides, MUCC
also prepares Internet documents for
self-installation without any charge such as
an introduction to Mahidol University
Internet manual, and the Internet Setup
manual.
MUCC provides an
all-night-long Internet service so that
members can access any time any place.
Presently, there are more than 20,000
members. Furthermore, to promote

especially the events in Mahidol

MUCC provides several
computer-training programs starting from
basic to professional programs for both
Mahidol University staff and the outsiders,
e.g., short course training, professional
training, and administrator training. The
course outlines were designed to fit the
particular need of our users as well as
fulfilling elementary knowledge in computer
so that it could be applied to his/her
studying, teaching or working field.
Recently, there are more than 5,000 trainees
each year. |
