Recently Mahidol University
held a ceremony to launch
the BUDSIR
VI for Windows
or the Computerization of
the Pali Canon and Buddhist
Reference Suite at the Office
of the President, Mahidol
University, Salaya Campus.
This is the 11th issue under
the BUDSIR
(Buddhist Scriptures Information
Retrieval) project over
the past 20 years. The ceremony
was held to celebrate the
auspicious occasion of His
Majesty the King’s
80th Birthday Anniversary.
Mahidol University also
distributed 2,550 such program
packages to monks, nuns,
monastic institutions, Buddhist
schools/study centers and
interested persons, in order
to promote Buddhist education
and enhance the dissemination
of Buddhist teachings. BUDSIR
VI is currently the most
complete Tipitaka database
consisting of 45 volumes
of Tipitaka in Pali, 45
volumes of Tipitaka in Thai
translation, 107 volumes
of Atthakatha, commentaries,
and scriptures in Pali including
Dhamma books, Dictionary
of Buddhism, and Dictionary
of Buddhist Terms by Pra
Promkunaporn.
