On
July 31, 2008, Asst. Prof.
Dr. Narattaphol Charoenphandhu,
the principal investigator
at the Consortium
from Calcium and Bone Research
(COCAB) and Department
of Physiology, Faculty of
Science, Mahidol University
received the Young Scientist
Award in the field of Physiology
from the Foundation for
the Promotion of Science
and Technology under the
Patronage of His Majesty
the King.
He has been recognized
for his multidisciplinary
work in the investigation
of calcium homeostasis and
mechanisms which transfer
calcium from the diet to
bone. His outstanding work
covers a broad spectrum
of research areas, from
nanotechnology, biophysics,
bioinformatics, molecular
biology, physiology to medicine.
Some of his works have high
potential for developing
better calcium-fortified
tablet with high bioavailability
and for the prevention of
osteopenia and osteoporosis. |
