On Friday 26, June 2009,

9.00AM at Mahidol University,
Salaya Campus, Her Royal
Highness Princess Maha Chakri
Sirindhorn presided over
the foundation stone laying
ceremony for the Innovation
Technology and Multi-purpose
Center Buildings, Population
and Social Research Building,
and inaugurated the Singwaedlomphatthadon
Building, Faculty of Environment
and Resource Studies. HRH
Princess Sirindhorn also
observed the exhibition
entitled, "Mahidol
University in the 21st Century
and Beyond" at the
Singwaedlomphatthadon Building,
Mahidol University, Salaya
campus.

M.D., President of Mahidol
University said that Mahidol
University plans to improve
Salaya campus to meet the
growing number of students
and staff. Construction
of the Innovation Technology
and Multi-purpose Center
Buildings and Mahidol Learning
Center were initiated. HRH
Princess Sirindhorn presided
over the foundation stone
laying ceremony for these
building as well as Population
and Social Research Building
on June 26th, 2009. HRH
Princess Sirindhorn then
rode the campus trolley
to visit the perimeter around
the campus as well as inaugurate
the Singwaedlomphatthadon
Building and observed the
exhibition.
Construction
of the Innovation Technology
and Multi-purpose Center
Buildings is initiated with
the goal to become the center
for teaching and learning
of music-related activity.
This new facility will assist
the development of technology
and innovation of the western
region. It will connect
the education network between
the public and private sector,
the community, and the people.
It allows for hosting of
meeting and conference at
the national and international
level. This ferroconcrete
building is 5 stories high
with 2 basement levels.
Total usable area is 31,426.37
m2, while the surrounding
compound is 40,152.87 m2.
The budget from fiscal year
2008-2011 was used for construction
with a total of 1,048,950,000
Baht.
Population
and Social Research Building
is a 6 stories building
with a basement. It has
about 12,350 m2 of usable
area. This building will
support the demand of research
facility, lecture rooms,
and as training center.
The budget for construction
is 174,488,000 Baht.
Mahidol
Learning Center is a new
pavilion to replace the
cafeteria and central recreation
center that have been deteriorating.
This new and modern facility
will become the university
center in education, recreation
and activities for the staff,
students, local community,
and for the public. The
funds for construction come
from both the budget as
well as funds outside of
the budget, which is approximately
490 million baht. The ferroconcrete
building will be 4 stories
with a mezzanine level.
The total usable area is
22,999.03 m2, while the
surround compound is 15,409.63
m2. Total area is 45,408.66
m2.
