On
November 6th,
2009, the Ethical Committee
on Research in Human, Research
Management and Development
Department, Office of the
President, Mahidol University
in collaboration with the
Forum for Ethical Review
Committees in Thailand organized
a public forum entitled,
"Physical and Mental
Preparation in Becoming
Vaccine Volunteers",
presided over by Prof.Shusee
Pisalyaputra, President
of the Ethical Committee
on Research in Human.
This
forum opened for everyone,
especially for those who
would become vaccine volunteers,
in order to understand how
to be a vaccine volunteer
as well as receiving the
necessary information before
participating, the risk
and benefit that may occur
during the study process,
the support to the participant
in the event of undesirable
effect, the result and the
benefit to the public upon
completion of the study.
Furthermore, debaters were
from the Thai Red Cross
AIDS Research Centre, AIDS
Access Foundation, The Program
for Appropriate Technology
in Health (PATH), and an
AIDS vaccine volunteer.
This
occasion was held at Meeting
Room, Research Institute
for Languages and Cultures
of Asia, Mahidol University,
Salaya Campus.
