On
November 16-17th, 2009,
Mahidol University received
the honor to be the exclusive
partner in live broadcasting
the Youth Engagement Summit
(YES) 2009 from Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia. Live broadcast
took place at Mahidol University
International College.
This
event is a part of the
Southeast Asian Youth for
Change (SEACHANGE), which
is a platform to reflect
the viewpoints of youth
leaders and many famous
individuals in various
fields. They gathered to
share their perspectives
on changes that are happening
to themselves, the society,
and the nation. Voices
were collected from youths
in the region (age not
more than 35 years old)
with an approximate of
1 million youths took part.
The youths were selected
when they register in the
SEACHANGE website. The
goal is to create a SEACHAGE
Youth Report, which will
be submitted to the governmental,
business, and media leaders
as well as submitted in
the YES 2009 meeting.
On
this occasion, other
countries also participated
in the live broadcast,
which include Cambodia,
Philippines, Vietnam,
The Lao PDR, Singapore,
and Indonesia. Important
figures who attended
this summit include Mr.
Biz Stone, co-founder
of twitter.com, Mr. Randi
Zuckerberg, Director
of Marketing Development
of facebook.com, Mr.
Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood
Megastar, Dr. Mamphea
Raphele, Former Managing
Director of World Bank,
and Mr. Nando Parrado,
Ultimate Survivor & Inspirational
Speaker.
