On August 4, 2010, Dr.Kopr Kritayakirana, Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under the Patronage of H.M. the King, chaired a press conference to announce the recipients of the 2010 Outstanding Scientist Award and Young Scientist Award. From Mahidol University, the selection committee selected Prof. Prasert Auewarakul, M.D., Director of the Institute of Molecular Biosciences, and Prof. Visith Thongboonkerd, Head of Medical Proteomics Unit, Office for Research and Development, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University to receive the Outstanding Scientist Award 2010. Clin. Prof. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., President of Mahidol University attended the press conference to congratulate the awardees. The event took place at Kamoltip Room, Siam City Hotel, Bangkok.

         Prof. Auewarakul received this award from his work in the study of antiviral immune responses in human lung. Prof. Thongboonkerd received this award for applying renal and urinary proteome analysis to study disease pathogenesis, which have novel application for biomarker discovery. On this occasion, Mahidol University would like congratulate our two outstanding scientists.
