A dozen of Mahidol researchers and academics were among the recipients of prestigious research and invention awards including Outstanding National Researcher, Excellent Research, Excellent Doctoral Thesis awards for 2010 and Invention awards for 2011 from the National Research Council of Thailand.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva presented the awards to the winners at the ceremony marking Inventors’ Day and the opening of Inventors’ Day Expo on February 2, 2011at Impact Arena, Muang Thongthani Convention Center in Nonthaburi.
The honors received by Mahidol researchers at the award presentation were: 2 National Outstanding Researcher awards, 4 Excellent Research awards (3 silver and one bronze medals), 3 Excellent Thesis awards (one each of excellent, very good and good levels). Further information can be viewed at
Three inventions by Mahidol academics were also recognized on Inventors’ Day. Receiving Invention Awards – Good Level in medical science were:
1. Asst. Prof. Panrasee Ritthipravat et al. of the Faculty of Engineering for their work “Tele-medicine for Diagnosing and Creating 3D Simulation of Nasopharyngeal Cancerous Tissues.”
Dr. ML Saovaros Svasti et al. of Thalassemia Research Center, Institute of Molecular Biomedicines for “Diagnosis of Alpha-thalassemia by Melting Curve”
Dr.Karnyupha Jittivadhna et al. of Institute for Innovative Learning received an honorable mention in social sciences for their work “Models of DNA, Protein Secondary Structures and the Function Units of Muscles: A Tool for Better Understanding of Biological Macromolecules”.
