The saxophone
is the focus of a series of important
musical events (recitals, concerts,
lectures, and master classes)
at the 15th World Saxophone Congress
which will take place at the College
of Music, Mahidol University in
Bangkok, Thailand. Previously
held in some of the major cities
in the world, and only the second
time in Asia, the city of Bangkok
was selected to welcome all saxophone
artists and enthusiasts from July
7-12, 2009.

The 15th
World Saxophone Congress begins
on Tuesday, 7 July at 5:30 p.m.
in the MACM Auditorium at the
College of Music, Mahidol University,
presided over by a representative
of HM the King of Thailand, with
a concert dedicated to performances
of Thai traditional music performed
on saxophone by Asian artists,
as well as new compositions by
Asian composers, using traditional
scales and harmonies. The last
performance on 12 July at 2 p.m.
will be performed by the Thailand
Philharmonic Orchestra under the
direction of Allan McMurray, and
will feature many important saxophone
artists, and brand new compositions.
There will
be many opportunities to hear
presentations of recitals, lectures,
concerts, and master classes.
All events will take place at
the College
of Music, Mahidol University.
