Clin. Prof. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., President of Mahidol University said that this is the second consecutive year that Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd. (QS) ranked Mahidol University 1^st among Thai Universities. With the ranking that climbed from the 30^th in the previous year to 28^th in this year, it shows another major step of success for the university. Not only publications in international academic peer review journals that indicate research quality, Mahidol University focuses on the academic, teaching and learning, satisfaction of future employers, and Student/Faculty ratio. These are criteria that Mahidol University performed well.

QS Asian Universities Ranking employed 5 criteria: Asian Academic Peer Review (30%), Asian Employer Review (10%), Student/Faculty ratio (20%), Bibliometrics – Papers per Faculty and Citations per Paper (30%) (Papers per Faculty / Citations per Paper), International factors (10%) (International Faculty / International Students / Inbound Exchange Student / Outbound Exchange Students). In 2010, QS ranked top 200 Asian institutions. University of Hong Kong ranked first, and seven universities in Thailand were ranked in top 200 Asian university. The universities are Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Chiang Mai University, Thammasat University, Prince of Songkla University, Khon Kaen University, and Kasetsart University, respectively.
