The
College of Music Mahidol University
will organize the 1st Thailand
Music Therapy Forum on June 23-25,
2008 at the Auditorium of the
College. This forum will serve
as a place where experts in various
areas related to music therapy
can exchange their opinions and
experiences not only among themselves
but also with the experts from
USA, Professor Dr. Alicia Clair
and Associate Professor Dr. Dena
Register from University of Kansas
who will be keynote speakers of
the forum.
Dr. Clair is the director of
music education and music therapy
at University of Kansas. She is
not only an academic but also
a practitioner in music therapy.
She has many years of experiences
as a music therapy practitioner
and was the former president of
the American Music Therapy Association
(AMTA). Dr. Clair was awarded
the National Service Award and
the National Professional Practices
Award from AMTA.
Dr. Register has
experiences as a music therapist
for various target groups such
as children with special education
needs, battered women and children.
She also works with early childhood
educators on incorporating music
in their classrooms. Dr. Register
has published her research in
the Journal of Music Therapy and
has presented at both national
and international music therapy
conferences.
