Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, organized health care service for Ban-Tahkwian School in Sakaeo province.

On June 20th, 2010, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University along with Buddhist Foundation Versatile, Thonburi Train Station Market, Better Vision Group Co., Ltd., Siam Hands Co.,Ltd., and Siriraj Hospital led a team of volunteer physicians, nurses, and health care professionals to Ban-Tahkwian School, Tha-Kwian district, Sakaeo province, for an outreach health care service. Tha-Kwian district is located in a remote area, not easily accessible to health service. The team of volunteers carried out general check-up, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for the local villagers. The goal of the outreach is to provide equal access to health service to everyone in the rural area. The services include but not limited to clinical treatment, blood check, diabetic check, urinal and fecal check, EKG check, dental treatment, traditional Thai medicine, eye exam, hair-cut, and rabies vaccination of domestic animals. Approximately 1,290 people received treatment service.

Mahidol's Pharmacists Reduce Global Warming

May 26th, 2010 – Since global warming is caused almost entirely by human, the members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University realized the importance of this problem, so the Faculty organized “Mahidol’s Pharmacists Reduce Global Warming”. This campaign aimed to raise the awareness in the students and personnel to cooperatively reduce energy consumption as well as maximize energy usage. This activity provides simple ways for everyone to participate in reducing global warming. Activities included exhibitions and games, which were well received by the staff and students of the Faculty.

 

College of Religious Studies, MU Held "Memoir-Farewell" for the Students

Between March 2-11, 2010, College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University held the "Memoir-Farewell" for sixty 4th year students. The students attended a 10-day religious retreat. The activities included public service, pay respect to the teachers, and apologize and forgive to each other ceremony. The event took place at Namthong Sikhalai Residency, College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Nakhon Pathom Province

Social Services at Rajanukul Institute by the Students

On Friday, March 5th, 2010, seven students from Buddhist Club delivered a sum of donation that was gathered from the faculty members and personnel of the Faculty of Pharmacy, to the Rajanukul Institute. They also assisted children in the institute during lunch meal as well.

Faculty of Tropical Medicine Held a Public Campaign to Prevent Flu 2009

August 4th, 2009 - The Nursing Division, Faculty of Tropical Medicine held a public campaign to prevent flu 2009. Mrs.Subhap Wannapan, Head of the Nursing Division, along with a team of nurse went to different departments and divisions in the Faculty of Tropical Medicine to demonstrate the proper way to wash their hands, wear mask, and promote health by exercise. They also distributed hand sanitizers, demo CD showing the proper way to wash your hands, masks, garbage separation sticker, and demo CD for fire prevention

Mobile Medical Unit Conducted the 52nd Outreach in the Rural Area

23 August 2009 – The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University along with Buddhist Foundation Versatile, Wat Sanghathan, Thonburi Train-Side Fresh Market, Hawvan Group, and volunteers from various departments led a team of doctors, nurses, and health personnel to conduct the 52nd Health Care Outreach at Ban E mat E sand School, Ban Rai District, Uthaithani Province. The medical team conducted general health check-up, check blood type and concentration, diagnose potential diabetic patient, check urine and feces, check EKG, dental treatment, diagnose and treat using traditional Thai massage, eye examination, hair-cut service, and vaccination.

Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital Conducted Free Vaccination to Combat Flu 2009

From 8.30AM-3PM between March 2nd to 31st, 2010 (except on public holidays), Ramathibodi Hospital provided free flu vaccination for the patients and their relatives at the Influenza H1N1 2009 Vaccine Center.

Family and Tales in Phutthamonthon

The National Institute for Child and Family Development, Mahidol University organized “Family and Tales in Phutthamonthon” activity for the parents to take their children to listen to the story telling as well as draw pictures along with the story. This activity is under the Project on Enhancement of Story Telling Time for Children Development, National Institute for Child and Family Development. Mahidol University, and the activity was held at Phutthamonthon, Salaya, Nakhon Pathom Province.

Public Knowledge Project - "Preventable Back Pain"

The Physical Therapy Clinic, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Mahidol University carried out a free public campaign to disseminate knowledge on “Preventable Back Pain,” on Saturday, Jan. 16th, 2010 at the Physical Therapy Clinic, Mahidol University. More than 50 people attended the event, and they learned to prevent and care for themselves when they have back pain.

The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University organized a mobile medical unit to celebrate 50th Anniversary

The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University organized a mobile medical unit in the auspicious occasion of 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Faculty. The mobile medical unit would provide health services and deliver donations to the public. The mobile unit went to Rajanagarindra Tropical Disease International Centre (RTIC), Ratchaburi Province in February 2010.

Medical Technologists for the Community

"Thai Medical Technologists for Haiti"

The Medical Technology Council, Association of Medical Technology of Thailand, and The Thai Council of Deans of Medical Technology Schools cordially invites everyone to participate in an urgent project for the humanity, "Medical Technologists for the Community: Donation for Haiti" to raise the money and donations for the earthquake victims in Haiti. The money and donated items will be delivered through the United Nations.

National Children’s Day 2010

Under the slogan "Society has peace, because children cultivate good deeds," The National Institute for Child and Family Development organized activities for the National Children’s Day 2010 on Saturday, January 9th, 2010 from 8AM – 2 PM at the National Institute for Child and Family Development.

MUIC donated to Elephant Reintroduction Foundation

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sompong Amnuay-ngerntra, Chairman of the Travel Industry Management Program, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sarayut Nathaphan, Chairman of the Business Administration Program, Mahidol University International College and colleagues presented a donation (33,370.50 Baht) to the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation at the Head Office of the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation in Bangkok.

Knowledge Dissemination to Physical Education Students Project

The National Doping Control Centre, Mahidol University organized a knowledge dissemination project to increase the awareness in the students, who participated in the 34th Physical Education Games at Institute of Physical Education Suphanburi on July 1st, 2009. The goals of this project are to increase the awareness of the harmful effects of the doping substances in sport competitions and raise the standard of good sportsmanship.

MU Unites for the Disadvantaged Children

The National Doping Control Centre organized a charity football match “MU Unites for the Disadvantaged Children” to allow personnel of Mahidol University to contribute to the society. This event took place between May 31st – April 1st, 2008, at the Athletic Centre, Faculty of Dentistry. Many organizations in Mahidol University were involved by making donations as well as sending personnel to participate in the event. The National Doping Control Centre delivered the donations to the Moo Ban Dek School, San Rak, Nakorn Pathom Province. This pre-school is in the care of the Children’s Foundation.
