Since
of Thailand came to the throne on June 9, 1946, he
has greatly contirbuted to the happiness of his subjects and the
stable growth and prosperity of the n ation. His mercy and merit
as well as his profile as a role model are well recognised and
have impressed greatly Thai people from all walks of life and
the international community.
June
9, 1996 marks very auspicious occasion in the history of the
Thai people when they will all join in the jubilant and festive
commemoration of the grandest celebration of the 50th
Anniversary of His Majesty the King's Accenssion to the Throne,
or the 50th year of his reign. The occasion gives the
Thai nation a very rare opportunity to celebrate an event that
has never before taken place in the long history of Thailand. His
Majesty's 50 years on the throne makes him the longest-reigning
monarch in Thai history. National celebrations are being
held between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1996 to mark this
unique occasion. Both the public and private sectors have joined
the celebrations through various actives suc h as the production
of commemorative souvenirs and the launching of several projects
in honor of His Majesty the King. |
