    The Mahidol – Norway Capacity Building Initiative for ASEAN



                 The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Mahidol University have launched a project entitled “Mahidol – Norway Capacity Building Initiative for ASEAN” in order to help strengthen human resources in the fields of Life Science & Health, Social & Population Science, Environmental Science & Engineering and Human Rights & Peace Studies and Disability Studies across ASEAN. Under this project, 100 full educational scholarships covering 60 Masters’ and 40 PhDs are available (50 for citizens of Myanmar and 50 for candidates from selected ASEAN countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, the Philippines and Vietnam).

    In order to promote this project to a wider audience in Myanmar a Press Conference and Reception was held on Saturday 6th June 2015 at 01.30 – 3.30 p.m. at the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, Myanmar. An interview session was also held in order to recruit interested Myanmar citizens – attracting more than 200 applicants.

    Attending the Press Conference and the Reception were the distinguished guests including H.E. Ms. Ann Ollestad, the Norwegian Ambassador to Myanmar, Clinical Prof. Udom Kachintorn, President, Mahidol University, Mahidol University executives and alumni and representatives from the Thai, Laotian, Indonesian, and Vietnamese Embassies in Myanmar.
